TIPS
So after nearly 4 years away from DR, I've come back to try out necromancers. Unfortunately I've forgotten about 95% of the game. Now necro's are an advanced guild to play; it's not easy, everyone is out to get you, you can't use the systems the other players have available and you have to hide what you are all the while. So I've been spending my time with my baby necro figuring out things like how to go to the bank (it took almost two days before I stumbled on the dir command) and another day to figure out I have to be holding my shield and not wearing it to train it. So suffice it to say my tips right now are going to be pretty rudimentary and you'll probably be rolling your eyes all through it. That said, feel free to email me with your tips and tricks at email Ichade.
Spells - First off, after you become a necro you'll want to talk to the guy in the kin about spell prepares. He'll make you hit a tin sheet and give you a message about it. Make sure your prep default is off to use the new prep (doh! that took 4 days to figure out).
Social Outrage - DON'T HANG OUT IN CITIES, 'justice' will tell you if you're in a town if you're not sure. The longer you stay, the easier it is to successfully accuse you of being a necromancer even if you're just juggling. If you do get accused (BURN HER) then leave town immediately and wait a few hours for your Social Outrage to go down. Run in if you need to train a stat or hit the bank but don't hang out there.
If you are accused, it sets your PVP to OPEN and you can't change it back. If you're caught in town after you're accused you will be purged. Not sure what happens with this yet but it's probably not pretty.
Ask Zam about preverse will give you a message that is supposedly about your SO or DO. I have to test this out a bit to know for sure.
Weapons - Since I need LE, I'm using it as my main weapon. At low levels my fatigue was wearing me out so I just brawled holding it, it kept LE moving and I could keep killing.
Armor -
Use a shield. It's great protection. With being survival prime, your evasion should be MUCH higher than your parry so you won't be learning that well anyway unless you're hell bent on training it. Plus your shield will learn at the same rate as your other armors will and its great protection for someone that will rarely ever parry. You can train many weapons safely while using a shield.
